The Briggs & Stratton’s Bluetooth portable generator

Wisconsin-based manufacturing company Briggs & Stratton announced on Jan. 13, Friday, the availability of its Bluetooth portable generator, the 8k-watt Elite Series Portable Generator with StatStation Wireless.  The generator features Bluetooth technology, making it more convenient for users to check on the generator.

The Briggs & Stratton 8,000 Watt Elite Series Portable Generator with StatStation Wireless is now available on Amazon and Home Depot. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price is $1,199. This industrial product was first announced by the company in May 2016.

A portable generator is an electricity-producing device powered by a gas or diesel. A turbine turned on by the engine creates electricity to power electric tools and appliances. They are mostly used in remote areas, camping locations, construction sites or whenever electricity is needed to keep vital equipment running.

More people are using portable generators because they offer comfort and flexibility. They use the device in their offices and homes instead of just sitting in the dark until the power comes back during a power outage.

The largest percent of the portable generator market is the homeowners who prefer to own them over standby generators. A portable generator provides the following benefits:

  • It can easily be taken where it is needed because it is mobile
  • With wheels and a handle, it is easy to take or move from one place to another
  • Light enough to carry by hand, like a traveling bag
  • It can be used as a power source around the house and garden
  • It compliments shed activities, such as in welding jobs or when using power tools
  • Provides power to camper trailers or caravan

Portable generators are now designed to be easier to operate. Furthermore, they require simple maintenance with less effort and time. The modern device is also safe to use as it comes with safety features that reduce the risk of injuries and damages.

According to Dan Roche, Briggs & Stratton director for marketing for power and cleaning systems, they have come up with the Bluetooth portable generator after learning from a customer research that consumers are frustrated not knowing the remaining capacity and fuel levels of the generator.

Adding the Bluetooth feature to power generators is a big plus for the users since they can now monitor the status of their generator from inside their homes or offices. The Bluetooth technology lets users access the generator’s vital information using their smartphones. The StatStation Wireless app shows in real time the generator’s fuel measurement and the remaining runtime before the need to refuel, percentage of consumed watts, total hours on the generator, quick startup or shutdown guide, maintenance reminders, such as air filter, spark plug and oil, dealer locator for servicing needs, reference materials like Operator’s manual, and how-to videos and FAQs.

Such new industrial product was proudly announced in a press release by Briggs & Stratton Corp. The release of the portable generator was coupled with the availability of the StatStation wireless app by the company which is now downloadable for free from Apple’s App Store and Google Play.
